If a link in one of our articles earns us money, this page explains exactly how — and why it never changes what we recommend.
Some pages on The Gist Post contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission from the seller. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same (and sometimes better) either way. Posts containing affiliate links are clearly marked.
When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, the merchant pays us a small percentage of the sale as a thank-you for the referral. The commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not your wallet. Tracking is typically handled by a cookie that expires within 24–90 days depending on the program.
Running an independent publication takes time. Affiliate commissions let us keep the site free, with no paywalls and no pop-up storms, while keeping our editorial judgment separate from our revenue.
Anything unclear about how we earn money? Email hello@thegistpost.com — we'd rather over-explain than under-explain.
